Laguna Beach resident and retired Justice Sheila Prell Sonenshine was honored at the annual Human Options luncheon for her involvement since the organization’s start in 1981.
Sonenshine, who left the bench in 1999, played a critical role in defining the legal advocacy system now available at all domestic violence programs in Orange County, says an announcement from the organization.
These include a 24-hour hotline, emergency and transitional living programs, education and prevention presentations, low-cost counseling, legal advocacy and children’s therapies.
In 1995, Justice Sonenshine created the annual Sheila Prell Sonenshine Pro Bono Reception to connect new lawyers with non-profit organizations such as Human Options.
