Breakers lost their top player Tyler Alter to a severely sprained ankle early last week and had to scramble their line up for their annual encounter with Corona del Mar last Wednesday, March 16, at CdM. The Sea Kings won 25-18, 16-25, 25-19, 25-19 but the Breakers did play well for much of the match. Pete Obradovich had 16 kills, Cole Paxson 14 digs, Barry Greenough seven kills, a solo block and six block assists. Ryan Blaser also had his best outing of the year with eight kills, a solo block and three block assists.

This past weekend, the Breakers finished third at the 41st Annual Dos Pueblos tournament. In pool play Laguna defeated Oxnard 25-13, 25-8, split with Bishop Alemany 25-23, 17-25, beat Saugus 25-17, 25-23 and Palisades 25-19, 25-16. In the playoffs, Laguna defeated Palisades 25-22, 25-22 and Division 1’s fourth-ranked Westlake 25-23, 25-17 before losing to Saddleback Valley Christian 25-15, 25-17. Pete Obradovich was named to the All-Tournament team.

On Tuesday, March 22, Laguna defeated Godinez 25-17, 25-15, 25-18 to open league play while missing two starters, Tyler Alter and setter Isaac Wulff. Obradovich had 19 kills and 11 digs to lead Laguna. Bruce Knill added 10 digs while Cole Paxson dished out 36 assists.
