Sandra “Sandi” Silka lost her battle to cancer on Sept. 6, 2015 at her home in Clarksville, Vir.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., March 3, 1942, to the late Joseph Frank and Emily Kulis Silka. Her parents moved to Southern California when she was 14.

Attending college in Southern California, Silka received her master’s degree in anthropology.

After college, Silka began her love for travel by touring Europe for six weeks with her friend, Judy Millsap. Silka moved to Laguna Beach in the early ’70s and soon became a successful real estate broker. She, with partners Dodo Moulton, Kim Ardery, and Marie Thomas, opened Pageant Real Estate in 1980. Over the years, it merged and became Chateau-Pageant Real Estate and then Turner Associates, always remaining in the same location at Glenneyre and Calliope Streets.

Prior to her moving to Clarksville, Vir., in 2007, Silka continued to travel once or twice a year with her real estate friends and co-worker, Marie.

Silka is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Donald Grover of Orange County, Calif., her sister-in-law, Peggy Silka of Nevada; her beloved nieces and nephew, Gina Tiedt, Erika Kushner, Nicole Volpe, and Scott Silka; and many great nieces and nephews and her many friends her in Laguna.

A celebration of Silka’s life is Friday, Oct. 16, at Hennessy’s in Laguna Beach from 5-8 p.m.
