Today is a great day (Wednesday, Aug. 24) and it brings tears of joy and happiness to my eyes when I drove past Laguna College of Art & Design this morning!
While it took me an extra five minutes of traffic to get to the village from my house out on Laguna Canyon Road, a minimal price to pay, as it made me proud to be an artist, canyon resident, and Laguna local to see all the new young artists starting their first day of art school. And then to drive past the Sawdust and Festival to see them active with visitors!
We live in a special world here when we can celebrate the arts and create more young artists to keep art alive in this world. Through art everything is possible. It is a direct reflection of our society. It gives perspective on life and allows the mind to experience emotional expression.
Thank you LCAD and Jonathan Burke for all that you do to keep perpetuating art and culture for generations to come. And to the festivals for keeping art alive in our community.
We are all so blessed and fortunate. Let’s keep an eye on the great things we have and celebrate.
