In the underwater category, first place winner Michelle Hoalton captured Deadman’s Reef in Crescent Bay on Jan. 18 in “The Many Colors of the Kelp Forest.”
Laguna Bluebelt Coalition, whose mission is marine protection, announced and released results in its third annual photo contest. Photographers competed in land and sea categories, capturing startling and stunning images of Laguna Beach. Judges included Indy photo contributor Mitch Ridder, BC Space gallery owner Mark Chamberlain and ocean-swimming, nonprofit manager Patsee Ober. They culled through 68 submissions, including 15 in the underwater category.
A reception and exhibition for the artists is planned for summer but details have yet to be finalized, Ridder said.
