As I write this letter to the editor, Gelsons is the only grocery company that has bid on the Haggens store in South Laguna. Many Lagunatics are hoping that Stater Bros., Trader Joes and Smart & Final Plus would consider bidding.
Time is running out. Bids must be made soon. Here is contact information for those of you who believe we need more than Ralphs so that for many residents, prices will be competitive. No question Gelson’s is a high quality company, but if Gelson’s comes in, Ralphs will be the only competitively priced store in town and it’s small size, narrow isles and limited parking is already causing it to be crowded some times of the day because of Haggen’s limited appeal. Lets hope we have a market taking Haggen’s place that has fair prices for everyone.
