Boys Soccer (3-7-7, 1-6-3) 5th Place

Breakers closed out the 2016 season with their first league win edging Calvary Chapel 1-0 last Thursday, Feb. 11, at Guyer Field. Coach Daniel Richards completed his sixth season at the helm but failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2011. Breakers were in most matches to the end, including Godinez who captured their fourth straight league title.

Girls Soccer (11-5-4, 6-2-2) 3rd Place

Breakers battled second place Calvary Chapel to a 1-1 tie last Wednesday, Feb. 10, denying the Eagles a league title as Estancia (7-1-2) edged Godinez 1-0 to take first while Calvary (6-0-4) was second and the Breakers third. Godinez had a great season in fourth (4-6-0, 10-6-5) but failed to earn an at-large playoff spot.

In Laguna’s match, the Breakers scored first as Haylee Jarvis scored off a pass from Blake Turner but the Eagles came back to knot the score forcing the tie.

The D-5 playoffs opened this past week with Laguna qualifying for the fifth straight year and the seventh time in the past eight seasons. Breakers hosted Arrowhead Christian this past Tuesday, Feb. 16 and a win would send them to Tahquitz on Thursday, Feb. 18, in Hemet. A road win would give Laguna a chance to host on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Last year Laguna advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Sierra Canyon.
