Boys Soccer (2-2-4, 0-1)

Breakers opened league play last Friday, Jan. 8, with a tough 2-0 loss to defending league champion Godinez. The scheduled match on Jan. 6 with Saddleback Valley Christian was rained out. Breakers played this past Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Costa Mesa (4-4-1) and host Saddleback on Friday, Jan. 15, 6 p.m. at Guyer Field

 

Girls Soccer (7-3-2, 2-0)

Laguna opened their 10th Orange Coast League season with a 2-1 victory over Godinez (6-1-5, 0-1) last Thursday, Jan. 7 at Centennial Park in Santa Ana handing the Grizzlies their first loss of the season. Shea Skenderian scored the initial goal 18 minutes into the contest off a pass from Christine Johnson. Laguna added a second goal when Johnson was able to chip a shot in pass the Godinez keeper. Breakers held off a strong second half attack by the hosts. Laguna goalie, Kara Dunne-Dombrink recorded 12 saves to help preserve this key league win. The Jan. 5 match with San Juan Hills was rained out and not rescheduled.

This week past Laguna travelled on Tuesday, Jan. 12, and defeated Costa Mesa 3-0 to move alone into first place. The team hosted Saddleback on Thursday, Jan. 14.

Next week the Breakers will face the two toughest league opponents with Estancia on Jan. 19 and at Calvary on Jan. 21.
