Soka Performing Arts Center in Aliso Viejo presents a line up of events this month starting with its five-year anniversary, Saturday, Sept. 17.

From 12:30-5:30 p.m., there will be live music in the concert hall and Black Box Theatre as well as backstage tours.

A jazz festival, Sept. 23-25, presents new and familiar jazz musicians performing standards and original compositions.

Closing out the month, internationally recognized pianist Yefim Bronfman will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27.

One-Night Chance to Hear Vocalists

Marquee Five, a vocal group known for tight harmonies and clever arrangements, performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at No Square Theatre, 384 Legion St.

Singers Mick Bleyer, Lynsey Buckelew, Adam West Hemming, Vanessa Parvin, and Sierra Rein bring spunky flair to five-part arrangements ranging from the Broadway canon to the American songbook.

To avoid the parking rush, patrons are encouraged to come early and enjoy drinks and snacks before the curtain or a 6:30 p.m. dinner by the White House, $10, served on the lawn.

Improv Supports Fighting Fifth

A line-up of national touring comedians perform together Monday, Sept. 26,, at the Irvine Improv to host Laughs for Leathernecks, a benefit fundraiser for the Dana Point 5th Marines Regiment Support Group.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7. The $35 ticket includes admission, dinner and a donation to DPMRSG.
