Graduate Chosen for GW Team

Ally Joachim

Ally Jochim, a newly minted Laguna Beach High School graduate, has recently been selected to join the George Washington University women’s water polo team, along with five other incoming freshmen for the 2017 season.

An academic All-American, Jochim led Laguna Beach High School to CIF Division I titles in 2014 and 2015 and to three straight league championships.

“Jochim plays for some great coaches at both Laguna Beach High School and SET. She is a very feisty utility player who can both defend center or post up and play on the perimeter. I think she will have an immediate impact on our roster and a fantastic career here at GW,” said head coach Adam Foley.

LCAD Students Prepare for Next Chapter

Laguna College of Art and Design continued its annual tradition of connecting industry professionals with graduating seniors during an open house last month.

Students presented their portfolios to representatives from companies ranging from Amazon Game Studio to Quicksilver.

One recent LCAD graduate, Pooja Shah, scheduled four interviews as a result.

Bob Dennis of the International Guild of Masters met four students who he would like to hire for a children’s book project related to a theme park in the Philippines.

“Their work showed their strength in drawing and sketching, which is foundational in this industry,” Dennis said.
