electionbannerSeveral groups host forums over the next few weeks where residents can ask questions of candidates running for two contested seats each on the Laguna Beach City Council and school board in the Nov. 8 election.

 

Canyon Concerns on the Table

A forum for the candidates for Laguna Beach City Council and other city offices is planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in City Hall’s Council Chambers.

The forum host is CANDO, the Canyon Alliance of Neighborhoods Defense Organization.

Voter Registration Drive Underway

Unregistered voters or those 18-year-olds who are newly eligible can still register to cast their ballot in the November election.

Register locally from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at the Woman’s Club, 286 St. Ann’s Dr.

Tivo the Presidential Debate?

City Council candidates will be asked questions specific to South Laguna at a 7-9 p.m. forum Monday, Sept. 26, at the South Coast Water District headquarters, 31592 West St.

South Laguna Civic Association hosts the forum, where audience members can also submit questions, said association president Greg O’Loughlin.

Water district candidates will also have an opportunity to make brief statements, he said.

 

Perhaps a Final Chance to Quiz Candidates

The quartet of candidates vying for two City Council seats will take questions at what may be the final forum of the local campaign season at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at City Hall.

by the Board of Realtors, Chamber of Commerce and Firebrand Media, publisher of the Laguna Beach magazine and Independent weekly newspaper.

 

Public Meets Candidates for School Board

A forum with candidates for school board is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Artists Theatre, 625 Park Ave.

All three candidates, challengers Howard Hills and Peggy Wolff, and incumbent Jan Vickers, will answer questions from the audience during the forum.

Incumbent Robert Whalen is pursuing a second term on City Council.

The local branch of the American Association of University Women hosts the event with the League of Women Voters.

Kathleen Fay, who serves as advocacy leader in the Laguna Beach PTA Council, will moderate the discussion.

There will also be a voter registration drive on site.
