Phony Utility Workers Suspected of Theft

Two men impersonating AT&T employees are believed to have stolen a stamp collection from an elderly resident while pretending to make phone repairs in the 1000 block of Gaviota Drive last Thursday, police said. The collection was valued at $50.

Police notified phone company officials of the incident. No similar incidents have been reported, Lt. Jason Kravetz said.

 

 

Monday, Nov. 14

Fraud. 1:18 p.m. 1000 block of Noria St. A woman filed a report after discovering someone was able to transfer $5,000 from her savings account.

Grand theft. 2:59 p.m. 600 blk Park Ave. Despite tracking a $500 iPhone stolen from a volleyball practice to a fast-food restaurant, police were unable to locate the phone. The restaurant was filled with students and the phone did not audibly ring.

Traffic stop. 10:30 p.m. Nyes Pl. A 53-year-old Chicago man was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 11:42 p.m. A 22-year-old Laguna Beach man was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 15

Curfew. 12:43 a.m. 600 block of Cliff Dr. An Orange couple, both 16, were detained by police and cited for a curfew violation. The boy, found to be joyriding, was also cited for being an unlicensed driver. Both were released to their parents.

Traffic stop. 1:34 a.m. 2500 block of Queda Way. A 21-year-old Laguna Beach resident was arrested for DUI and resisting arrest two hours after initially running from police, who pulled him over. He was taken into custody when he arrived home, encountering police led there by a wallet he dropped when fleeing.

Battery. 9:55 a.m. PD. Mission Hospital reported an assault by a psychiatric patient of a nurse, who was uninjured and did not request prosecution.

 

Wednesday, Nov. 16

DUI. 7:15 p.m. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. A 44-year-old Newport Beach woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Thursday, Nov. 17

Theft. 1:53 p.m. 100 block of Moss St. A flag was stolen and a flagpole damaged.

 

Friday, Nov. 18

Traffic stop. 4:40 p.m. 300 block of Glenneyre St. A 16-year-old Laguna Beach girl was cited for possession of pot; her two female passengers were not cited.

 

Saturday, Nov. 19

Traffic stop. 1:42 a.m. 600 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. A 48-year-old Aliso Viejo man was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:30 a.m. Canyon Acres. A 39-year-old Aliso Viejo man was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Hit and run. 7:34 p.m. 300 block of Cliff Dr. A 24-year-old Laguna Hills woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 8:59 p.m. Myrtle St. Allison Anne Cory, 54, of Monarch Beach, was arrested for drunk driving, her third arrest for the same charge and her bail was increased to $15,000. Her license was also suspended at the time of the stop.

Disturbance. 100 block of Irvine Cove. A 19-year-old Huntington Beach man was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 10:23 p.m. 30900 block of Coast Hwy. A 65-year-old Prescott, Ariz., woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Sunday, Nov. 20

Traffic stop. 1:16 a.m. 200 block of Forest Ave. A 42-year-old Laguna Hills man was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:16 a.m. 1300 block of N. Coast Hwy. A 24-year-old Huntington Beach man was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Assault. 8:37 a.m. 100 block of Irvine Cove. A 17-year-old girl who interfered with a fight at a party suffered black eyes and facial injuries allegedly at the hands of the host. A boyfriend took the girl home; she was taken for treatment the next morning by her mother.

Traffic stop. 1:39 p.m. 300 block of Bluebird Canyon Dr. A 36-year-old New York resident was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Grand theft. 4:36 p.m. Smithcliffs Rd. A $1,000 laptop computer was discovered missing after a party. Detectives were provided a guest list.
