Suspected Gang Members Arrested After Car Stop

Police arrested four suspected Costa Mesa gang members on an array of felony charges after their vehicle was pulled over in the 200 block of Cliff Drive last Wednesday, March 16, Sgt. Louis Callus said.

A stolen loaded handgun was found in the vehicle, which was also found to be stolen, Callus said. Its plates had been stolen from a second vehicle, she said.

Costa Mesa detectives, who assisted with the investigation, identified all four occupants, who were held without bail, as suspected gang members, she said. A juvenile was transported to juvenile hall.

Monday, March 14

Vehicle burglary. Bluebird Canyon Dr. A wallet and canvas bag with valuables with an estimated worth of $200 taken from a vehicle.

Vandalism. 10”15 a.m. 31000 block of Table Rock Dr. A Hummer was egged and a tire slashed, causing $400 in damage.

Vandalism. 4:57 p.m. 100 block of Riviera Way. Trees valued at $300 were cut without permission.

Rape. 5 p.m. An investigation is underway over allegations of inappropriate sexual activity involving two females and a male, all juveniles and Laguna Beach residents.

Traffic stop. 12:37 a.m. Fifth Ave. A Newport Beach teenager was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Tuesday, March 15

Vehicle burglary. 12:09 p.m. 1600 block of Louise St. Baseball equipment and a radio cumulatively valued at $445 was taken from a truck entered through an unsecured window.

Suspicious. 4:24 p.m. Summit Drive. A gray-haired man in his 40s asked a woman waiting with her kids at a school bus stop if they wanted a ride.

Wednesday, March 16

Vehicle burglary. 4:44 p.m. 1200 block of Mirada St. A GPS unit was taken from a locked car.

Fraud. 4:30 p.m. 500 block of Mystic Way. A $335 charge was fraudulently made to a credit card for a briefcase.

Thursday, March 17

Receiving stolen property. 12 p.m. Bryan Michael Dzubiak, 23, and Paul Milton Cox, 37, both of Laguna Beach, were arrested for suspicion of receiving stolen property after a washer and dryer reported stolen from a Laguna Canyon home showed up in a Mar Vista Dr. garage sale. Bail was set at $20,000.

Grand theft. 2:19 p.m. 30800 block of Coast Hwy. Personal items worth $700 were taken from an unlocked car.

Traffic stop. 10:52 p.m. Oak St. A Lake Forest woman, 28, was arrested for DUI. She was held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 11:51 p.m. Cedar Way. An Oroville man was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 11:59 p.m. Calliope. A Las Vegas woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Friday, March 18

Traffic stop. 12:04 a.m. 1200 block of Glenneyre St. A 25-year-old Coto de Caza man was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 12:45 a.m. 400 Cedar Way. A 31-year-old Laguna Beach man was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:16 a.m. 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. A 28-year-old Laguna Beach man was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:43 a.m. 300 block of S. Coast Hwy. A 23-year-old Huntington Beach man was cited for DUI and held for $10,000 bail.

Vehicle burglary. 1:20 p.m. Alta Laguna Park. A window was smashed in a car.

Traffic stop. 8:41 p.m. 300 block of St. Ann’s Dr. A 43-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Saturday, March 19

Traffic stop. 2:51 a.m. Upland Rd. Joseph Nicholas Lebon, of Dana Point, was arrested for suspicion of DUI, a second offense in 10 years; driving on a suspended license; as well as providing police his brother’s name. He was held for $20,000 bail.

DUI. 7:27 a.m. Legion St. Police stopped a vehicle that witnesses reported swerving erratically, arresting Vega Trinidad, 40, of Rialto, for suspicion of being under the influence and possession of .6 grams of methamphetamine.

Shamrock violation. 1000 block of Oro St. Neighbors complained that a five-foot wide shamrock on a nine-foot pole blocked their view. A report was taken for code enforcement officers.

Vehicle burglary. 10:41 a.m. 2800 block of Terry Rd. About $15,000 in camera equipment was stolen from a vehicle where a window had been smashed.

Sunday, March 20

Illegally parked vehicle. 10 a.m. 400 block of Ruby St. About 10 oz. of marijuana was found in a vehicle towed after it was parked in a driveway.

Storm damage. 700 block of Kendall Dr. Winds tore tile and tar paper from the roof of a home.
