Surprised Car Burglar Arrested

The owner of a vehicle surprised a burglar partly dangling out of his car’s sunroof about 6:50 p.m. in an underground parking structure at Oak and Glenneyre Streets last Thursday, April 19, police said.

The owner, who reported seeing white shoes poking out of the sunroof and someone inside with a flashlight, confronted the thief, who dropped $2,900 worth of loot and scrambled into a waiting vehicle, according to Lt. Jason Kravetz.

Sol Langlois Risley, 35, of Laguna Beach, was arrested for suspicion of burglary and a parole violation after police stopped the car in the 200 block of Oak Street. The victim also gave chase.

Officers found a window punch, other cell phones, and pawn slips inside Risley’s vehicle, Kravetz said. Detectives will be trying to locate owners of the found property.

Risley, currently in county jail, was arraigned and charged with burglary and attempted grand theft. A hearing is set for May. 3.

 

Fullerton Man Dies in Solo Accident

Andre Gonzalez, 22, of Fullerton, was found deceased lying in grass several feet from his overturned vehicle on Laguna Canyon Road early Monday, April 23, police said.

A late-night worker going home from work reported seeing the rolled vehicle on the west side of road about two miles north of the toll road at 3:26 a.m., police said.

Police attempted to resuscitate Gonzalez, but could not. The highway patrol took over the investigation.

 

Monday, April 16

Fraud. 10:31 a.m. 1400 block S. Coast Highway. Detectives added yet another Laguna Beach hotel to those victimized by suspected identity thief Harold Larson, arraigned earlier this month on 20 felony charges. The newly discovered theft involved a week-long stay, Jan. 20-27, by a woman and Larson, who checked into the hotel using a stolen credit card.  The true owner of the card disputed the bill several months later when she received it, Lt. Jason Kravetz said.

Burglary. 6:44 p.m. 31800 Circle Dr. A homeowner discovered a daytime burglar had entered through a window and took $20,000 worth of jewelry and watches.

 

Tuesday, April 17

Trespassing. 1:42 p.m. 100 block of Irvine Cove. Five male teens jumped the fence with surfboards. They were escorted off the property by security.

Robbery. 2:30 p.m. 400 block Glenneyre St. The victim turned over $2 to two Hispanic-looking men who he overheard conversing a plan about robbing him.

Missing Person. 7:20 p.m. 30800 block of Coast Highway. A daughter reported her 87-year-old father missing after he and his wife, 85, left on foot after being evicted by a hotel for not paying their bill. The mother called for help from a salon while her husband wandered on. He was found the next day at another local motel.

Fraud. 7:35 p.m. 500 block of Canyon Acres Dr. An unknown suspect opened a credit card account in the name of a resident. Several unauthorized purchases have been made.

Traffic stop. 11:55 p.m. 600 block S. Coast Hwy. A 31-year-old Santa Ana woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Wednesday, April 18

Burglary.. 10:29 a.m. 400 block Cypress Drive. A suspect broke a door knob of a laundry room, rifled boxes but took nothing.

Traffic stop. 12:14 p.m. Nyes Place. A 60-year-old San Diego woman was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Medical. 20600 Laguna Canyon Rd. 8:48 p.m. center. Needle laying next to him. Not conscious. Chastain Chichon Carson, 39, of Laguna Beach, was arrested for violating his parole after police found him incoherent. He appeared to have recently injected heroin and consumed a large amount of alcohol.

 

Thursday, April 19

Fraud. 12:34 p.m. 2500 block of Duarte Way.  A resident determined that someone three times withdrew $71 from his bank account paid to a healthcare company.

Grand theft. 1000 block of Temple Hills Dr. 12:44 p.m. Two bicycles were taken from on open garage last night.

Fraud. 1:57 p.m. 700 block of Cliff Dr. An Internet seller received a fraudulent $2,950 check.

Traffic stop. 4:23 p.m. 800 block of Tia Juana St. A 63-year-old local resident was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 10:59 p.m. Ocean Ave. A 26-year-old Rancho Santa Margarita woman was arrested for DUI  and held for $2500 bail.

Traffic stop. 11:32 p.m. 300 block El Paseo. A 50-year-old Minnesota man was arrested for DUI  and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Friday, April 20

Vehicle burglary. 11:49 a.m. 200 block of Lower Cliff Dr. A laptop and cell phone valued at $1,200 was taken the day before from a locked vehicle.

Pedestrian stop. 1:24 p.m. 200 block of Forest Ave. Nathan Lawrence Gottlieb, 22, arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Traffic stop. 9:59 p.m. S. Coast Hwy. A 49-year-old Huntington Beach woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Saturday, April 21

Traffic stop. 1:07 a.m. Thalia St. A 29-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 1:43 a.m. Mountain Rd. A 44-year-old Poway woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 3:25 a.m. Florence Ave. A 51-year-old Laguna Beach resident was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Sunday, April 22

Traffic stop. 12:34 a.m. Vista del Sol. A 25-year-old Huntington Beach woman was arrested for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 1:17 a.m. 1700 blk of Laguna Canyon Rd. Mark Anthony Carballo, 26, of Rancho Santa Margarita, was arrested for suspicion of DUI and held for $10,000 bail due to a prior conviction.

Traffic stop. 2:22 a.m. Thalia St. A 24-year-old San Clemente woman was locked up for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:46 a.m. 100 block of Mountain Rd. A 30-year-old Rancho Cucamonga woman was arrested for DUI  and held for $2,500 bail.

Missing person. 11:42 a.m. 1400 block of N. Coast Hwy. A sister from Arkansas reported her brother missing. He was paid up ‘til April 23.
