Public’s Help Needed in Nabbing Burglary Suspects

Laguna Beach police released video images from two separate break-ins at local businesses in recent weeks hoping for the public’s help in identifying the suspects, but have yet to receive any leads, Sgt. Louise Callus said Tuesday.

More than $8,000 worth of tools and other items were taken in a midnight burglary at Ganahl Lumber, 1765 Laguna Canyon Rd., on Thursday, May 23, Capt. Jason Kravetz said. Two suspects are seen on a video smashing the lower portion of a glass door at Ganahl, he said. They wore hoodies over their heads as they entered the business.

Earlier, thieves shattered a front window at European Optical, 1276 S. Coast Highway, on May 10, setting off an alarm, he said. Police arrived to find window shards and several pairs of eyewear strewn about the entryway. The loss was approximately 65 pairs of eyeglass frames valued at $13,000.

A video shows two suspects parking behind the optical store prior to the burglary, police said. One fetches a tool to break the window and his accomplice wraps something over his hand before punching the window.
