Fraud. 200 block of Ocean Ave. 10:16. A bank employee discouraged a client from making a $50,000 wire transfer to a man she met on match.com. Police suspect a scam.

Fraud. 300 block of Cleo St. 11:55 a.m. A resident reported a $413 unauthorized charge on a credit card that had been stolen two weeks earlier from an unlocked car.

Traffic stop. Coast Hwy. 1:11 p.m. Raymond Carl Austin, 54, of Orange, was arrested for two misdemeanor warrants for driving with a suspended license and a registration violation.

Traffic collision. El Toro Rd. 4:21 p.m. A passenger who complained of back pain was transported for treatment after a two-car, rear-end collision.

Fraud. 3100 block of Bern Dr. 6:31 p.m. A resident received credit cards for accounts he hadn’t opened where cumulative charges of $1,826 had been made.

Tuesday, Aug. 30

Pedestrian. 100 block of S Coast Hwy. 8:43 a.m. David Lente, 50, of Laguna Beach, was arrested for resisting arrest and hit and run after he came to the police station. Lente allegedly had run into the back of a car while on a bike and earlier had fled when an officer tried to cite him for riding a bike on the sidewalk.

Petty theft. 500 block of Cliff Dr. 2:14 p.m. A sightseer who put a bag down to take a photo reported its disappearance, a $200 loss that included a passport.

Petty theft. 31800 block of S. Coast Hwy. 3:12 p.m. Percocet pills were taken from a purse.

Petty theft. 31900 block of Coast Hwy. 7:58 p.m. A surfboard was stolen from the beach.

DUI. 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 8:40 p.m. A 64-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for DUI after her vehicle, without its lights on, was observed swerving.

Wedneday, Aug. 31

Traffic stop. Third Avenue. 10:29 a.m. Jason Mitchell Provence, 43, of Newport Beach, was cited for two outstanding warrants.

Fraud. PD. 12:15 p.m. A woman whose checkbook was stolen last month reported that a check was cashed for $875.

Theft. 600 block of Park Ave. 3:24 p.m. Faux turf worth $500, stored on pallets under the bleachers, was stolen.

Hit and run. El Toro Rd. 4:35 p.m. A 22-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for DUI following a collision. The victim reported the hit and run.

Fraud. 600 block of N. Coast Hwy. 4:35 p.m. A resident who attempted to make a bank deposit was informed by a teller that her $100 bill was counterfeit.

Fraud. S. Stonington. 5:11 p.m. A resident fell for a scam by a caller that demanded money to pay an IRS fine and avert arrest. The resident went to three locations to purchase $3,800 worth of iTunes cards and provided the gift card numbers to the caller. Only when the caller demanded $5,000 more in cash did she hang up.

Thursday, Sept 1

Suspicious. 300 block of Bluebird Canyon Dr. A 16-year-old intoxicated male who had entered a home was detained by police and later released to his father.

Grand theft. 200 block of Wave St. 3:55 p.m. A known suspect was questioned about the theft of $6,800 in cash from a home safe.

Suspicious person. 100 block of Blue Lagoon. 10:15 p.m. In response to a report about a possible break-in, police arrested John Michael Mercer, 53, of Rancho Santa Margarita, for an outstanding warrant. Another charge was added when he was searched in jail, when police allegedly found meth in his possession.

Friday, Sept. 2

Traffic stop. Montage Resort Dr. 2:15 a.m. A 20-year-old San Juan Capistrano was arrested for DUI.

Check condition. 300 block of Forest Ave. 9:12 a.m. Someone attempted to pry open two mailboxes.

Disturbance. 2500 block of Glenneyre St. 12:13 p.m. A resident reported that for the second time in a week a former friend is attempting to break into her home. Police are unable to locate the subject.

Injured animal. 300 block of Cliff Drive. 1:48 p.m. A beachgoer spotted a seagull with six-pack rings wrapped around its beak.

Hazardous condition. 31800 block of Ninth Ave. A delivery truck hit overhead cable wires; a resident moved the wires out of the road.

Suspicious circumstances. 6:14 p.m. 1400 block of S. Coast Hwy. Anthony Luis Ulrich, 24, of San Juan Capistrano, was arrested for allegedly stealing a backpack from a bus rider. He was located by police two blocks from where the theft occurred due to a secondary report by a woman, who described being approached by someone she regarded as suspicious. Bail was set at $20,000.

Drunk driving. Catalina St. 9:54 p.m. Jessica Rae Deeds of Los Alamitos was arrested for DUI and hit and run following a collision with a red VW.

Welfare check. 1900 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 11:39 p.m. A 34-year-old city employee, who was behind the wheel of a city vehicle in a public parking lot, was arrested for DUI.

Saturday, Sept. 3

Theft. 1700 block of Santa Cruz St. 10:16 a.m. A package delivered to a home a day earlier and containing $750 black Margiela shoes was stolen.

Animal call. 1200 block of Anacapa Way. 5:32 p.m. A deer that was stuck between two houses for 30 minutes eventually ran off, but not before damaging a fence.

Rape. 30800 block of Coast Hwy. 5:57 p.m. A female patient who attended a wedding reception awoke at 1:30 a.m. in an Uber and in unfamiliar location.

Traffic collision. 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 8:16 p.m. A woman suffered injury to her mouth in a collision.

Disturbance. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 8:48 p.m. Carrick James Kennedy, 25, a Laguna Beach transient, was arrested for suspicion of trespassing, possession of a controlled substance, and a probation violation.

Traffic stop. Saint Ann’s Drive. 11:39 p.m. A 51-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for DUI.

Sunday, Sept 4.

Traffic stop. 200 block of Bluebird Canyon Dr. 1:58 a.m. A 22-year-old Laguna Beach man was cited for DUI and his 21-year-old female passenger arrested for drunk in public.

Traffic stop. 700 block of Cliff Dr. 2:45 a.m. Robert Alexander Slingsby, 26, of Irvine, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and for suspicion of possessing three other controlled drugs.

Foot patrol. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 12 p.m. Davon Tyrone Hill, 37, of Stanton, was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and a $10,000 warrant for drug charges.

Rape. PD. 12:36 p.m. No details were released.

Traffic collision. 300 block f N. Coast Hwy. 4:34 p.m. Two passengers complained of pain following a broadside collision between a vehicle turning off Coast Highway and another northbound vehicle.
