Vehicle burglary. 1800 block of S. Coast Hwy. 5:20 p.m. A Louis Vuitton bag and two checkbooks in a ziplock bag cumulatively valued at $9,000 went missing.

Tuesday, July 18

Traffic collision. Thalia St. 6:42 a.m. A 48-year-old Laguna Beach cyclist was knocked to the ground in a collision with a vehicle. Both parties failed to yield, according to police.

Assault. 1700 block of S. Coast Hwy. 3:39 p.m. A woman reported an assault she said occurred at a local restaurant Friday, July 14, at 11 p.m.

Burglary. 300 block of Y Place. 11:26 p.m. A red road bike was taken.

Wednesday, July 19

Grand theft. 1500 block of S. Coast Hwy. 2:28 p.m. A wallet with $2,100 in cash was reportedly taken from a room.

Thursday, July 20

Grand theft. 800 block of S. Coast Hwy. 1:31 p.m. A ring valued at $7,000 was taken last Friday.

Friday, July 21

Citizen contact. 3000 block of Laguna Canyon Road. 8:42 a.m. Brandon Colin Heath, 23, of Wildomar, was arrested for three warrants and faces new allegations over breaking into cars at an auto repair shop.

Grand theft. 30600 block of Marilyn Dr. 10:49 a.m. A resident reported the theft of jewelry worth $21,500 from a home.

Stolen vehicle. Forest Avenue. 10 p.m. An alert about a stolen vehicle northbound on Coast Highway led to the arrest of Valerie Leigh Hewin, 58, described as homeless from Huntington Beach, who was arrested for suspicion of auto theft and outstanding warrants. The car was stolen from a rental agency. A male passenger was released without charges.

Traffic stop. 200 block of Broadway St. 11:43 p.m. Blake Miles Brown, 32, of Murrieta, was arrested for suspicion of DUI and held for $15,000 bail due to two previous offenses.

Saturday, July 22

Fraud. PD. 3:43 p.m. Detectives are investigating a $3,100 student loan scam, apparently based in New York, involving someone depositing funds to an account and then withdrawing a larger sum.
