Laguna Beach High School was once again the big standout, taking almost every top spot in the various divisions at the second event of the Scholastic Surf Series Orange County High School League held in Huntington Beach on Saturday, Dec. 20.

The LBHS surf team competed with St. Margaret’s High, Junipero Serra High, Ranch Santa Margarita and El Toro High School. It was a cloudy day and waves were in the three-foot range and winds were light.

Spencer Davis secured his second win in a row in the bodyboard final. The girls did double duty competing in both the longboard and shortboard finals. Anika Pitz won in both divisions, while Cayla Henderson was also impressive taking second in longboard and fourth in shortboard.

The entire boys shortboard team stole the show and all the spots in the final, battling against each other with the goofy foots sticking next to the pier and the regular foots down the beach. When the horn blew, Michael Chapman won, Zach Levine placed second and Jake Levine, third. Jacob Herbert had some nice rights taking fourth as did Willy Hogan and Dylan Davis rounding out the final in fifth and sixth. Michael Chapman also went double duty in the longboard placing second while Wesley Eagleton was finished in fourth.

The next series event will take place at Ninth Street in Huntington Beach.
