The Laguna Beach High School surf team won several early heats, but ultimately lost to undefeated Dana Hills at Salt Creek on Thursday, Nov. 3.
Principal Christopher Herzfeld was on hand for some early rides.
Sam Nelsen came away with a second, followed closely by Noah North and Travis Booth in third and fourth.
Trey Lockhart won in the last heat of the day in boys short board.
Kalohe Danbara, Kayla Coscino and Claire Kelly took second, third and fourth respectively in girls short board. Kayla also won in long board where Grace Wellsfry placed second.
Another double duty standout was Dante Madrigal, who took first in long board and second in short board.
Other strong finishers for the day were Kiko Nelsen in boys short board, Todd Vought and Jake Houglum in body board and Jameson Roller in long board.
