The Individual League Finals Surfing Championships were held at T-Street in San Clemente last Thursday and Friday, Nov. 20-21, and the Laguna Beach High School Surf Team was well represented making nearly all of the division finals.

Laguna went up against San Clemente, Dana Hills and Newport Harbor for individual honors.

In waves firing with four to six-foot surf, Jeremy Shutts, Jake Levine, Zach Levine, Willy Hogan, Mike Chapman and Shane Chapman took advantage with some great performances on shortboard. All made the quarterfinals and Jeremy went on to the final, where he finished fifth overall.

This is an outstanding result for the freshman that will have three more years to go up, coaches Scott Finn and Alisa Cairns said.

In smaller surf Friday, Anika Pitz had a great heat and advanced to the final, taking sixth overall, while Coco Putnam and Grace Wellsfry just missed out in the shortboard. Freshman Megan Mathews went to the final, taking sixth in the longboard, while Kirra Hamilton just missed out.

In longboard, Ryan Meisberger rode into the final with a sixth overall.
