Liv Mitchell on Monday, May 9, captured the Division 2 diving title, the first for Laguna Beach aquatics and despite substandard diving platforms. Laguna earned 22 points towards their D-2 scoring with the swim event finals scheduled for May 14 at Riverside. The girls team finished 16th in their first run at the competitive Division 2 level.

The previous week, Laguna swim teams captured another title as the boys took their eighth and the girls their ninth in a row at the league meet held at Costa Mesa High School.

The girls swept every event with Claire Kelly taking the 200 free and 500 free, Kasey Karkoska the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, and Harper Dix with the 50 free and 100 butterfly. Also capturing individual honors were Kyla Whitelock in the 100 free and Keira Dailey in the 100 back.

On the boys side, Laguna took two of three relays and three of eight individual events. Cameron Karkoska in the 200 free, Max Morgan in the 200 IM and Billy Renner in the 100 free were the Breaker winners.
