The 21st annual Taste for Charity, a fundraiser sponsored by the Laguna Board of Realtors, begins at 6 p.m. at Seven Degrees, 891 Laguna Canyon Road, Wednesday, June 1.

Guests will enjoy champagne, live entertainment, small plates from local restaurants and silent and live auctions.

This year’s beneficiaries will include 12 local organizations. Last year’s event was attended by over 500 guests and raised over $120,000.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Local Realtors Participate in Food Drive

The Laguna Beach Coldwell Banker office will be collecting food donations in partnership with Northstar Moving Company in their fourth annual “Let’s Send Hunger Packing!” drive.

Donations will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and may be brought, through June 17, to the Coldwell office at 31582 Coast Highway.

Help them compete against other cities and towns to collect the most food for their local food bank. NorthStar Moving will honor the winning offices in each county with a monetary donation to their local food bank in their name.

 

 

 

 

 

Republicans Meet

Laguna Beach Republicans will meet on Wednesday, June 15, at Mozambique restaurant, 1740 S Coast Highway.

Plan Ahead for Ocean Awareness Camp

Kayak in the ocean or hike in hills among wild buffalo at the first Ocean Awareness Challenge weekend on Catalina Island Sept. 9-11, created by the Women’s Sailing Association-OC.

Registration is now open for the philanthropic event with a twofold goal of providing marine education to adults and children and raising funds to send under-served youth to the Mountain & Sea Educational Adventures camp on Catalina Island.

A range of family activities are planned. The cost is $195 for adults, which includes a partial tax-deductible donation. For more information and registration, which closes Aug. 10, visit: wsaoc.org/oac.

 

Grand Jurors Sworn In July 1

Nineteen Orange County residents were selected to serve on the Orange County Grand Jury from a pool of 140 applicants, for the term that begins July 1. Alan Carlson, chief executive officer and jury commissioner, randomly pulled cards printed with candidate names from the grand jury box, as required by statute.

Laguna Niguel resident Allen Ostergar will head the Orange County franchise of Beeline Bikes teaming with bike industry veterans Tom Eichen and Matthew Mobley.

North and South Orange County, including Laguna Beach, will be served by the new franchise of the San Carlos company. Customers can schedule appointments online at beelinebikes.com or by calling 855-58-BIKES.

Symphony Gala Brings in $1.3 Million

The Pacific Symphony’s recent gala raised $1.3 million to benefit the symphony’s artistic and education programs. The evening paid tribute to the symphony’s pops conductor Richard Kaufman, celebrating 25 years with the orchestra.

Among the top bids at the live auction was $20,000 from Trish and John O’Donnell for a trip to New York aboard a private jet, and tickets to the New York Philharmonic. Diane and Rodney Sawyer’s winning of bid of $12,000 bought them a stay at the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort in Tahiti, while other winners included Charlie Zhang, who took home Tahitian pearl jewelry for $20,000; and Walkie Ray, whose $12,000 bid got him a trip to Chicago and a tour of the city’s art and architecture.

A golf team from members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Laguna Beach won the Canterbury Cup Trophy. The tournament supports UCI Episcopal ministries.
