The Laguna Beach High School boys tennis teams lost at home and away matches in a pre-season match-up with Division 1 Beckman High School in Irvine last week.
New coach Rick Conkey said, “These guys are No. 7 in the state and we really played some competitive tennis against them today. I was proud of all of the boys.”
Laguna varsity doubles won two of their matches: Sam Reynolds and Blake Hawkins, 6-1; and Mason Lebby and Taylor Sokolovic won in a tie-break.
JV player Kyle Herkins won in a tie-break after being up 5-3 and then down 6-7. The JV team also has a new coach, Nick Radisay.
