Thurston Middle School, El Morro and Top of the World Elementary Schools have recently been named to the California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) 2010 Honor Roll for their exceptional success in elevating student academic achievement.

The program evaluates schools’ academic performance over time based on the California Standards Tests and the California High School Exit Exam. This year 1,221 California public elementary, middle, and high schools were selected.

Thurston principal Joanne Culverhouse was thrilled and honored to receive the prestigious award, adding, “Our students and staff work very hard.”

TOW principal Ron La Motte attributed the four consecutive years of progress meeting the needs of each student through a collaborative culture. El Morro’s principal Chris Duddy said the award “validates that we are doing the right things and all of our hard work is paying off.”
