USA Express Tire Rolls Into Town

The Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce announces the grand opening of USA Express Tire & Service of Laguna Beach at 350 Broadway.

The public is invited to meet the new owners, the Andonian Family, on Wednesday, June 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Attendees will enjoy appetizers, beverages and drawings for free oil changes and other prizes. At the event, the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach will receive a complimentary set of tires for one of its vans as a gift from USA Express Tire & Service of Laguna Beach.

The store is also offering complimentary tire rotation that day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Andonian family is the newest owner of the store, located in the iconic brick building on Broadway, just south of the Laguna Playhouse. Giorgio Andonian, representing the third generation of Andonians in the tire business, runs the Laguna Beach store along with his father, Hratch Andonian.

Experts on tires and automotive service, the Andonians are best known for founding Discount Tire Centers, a company that began with a single store in Los Angeles before growing to more than 130 locations.

 

Historic Preservation Ordinance Workshop

The City of Laguna Beach will hold a public workshop with the Heritage Committee on Thursday, June 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 505 Forest Avenue.

The workshop will be held to review a revised draft of the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance.

The City of Laguna Beach is in the process of updating its current Historic Preservation Ordinance as it relates to an updated field survey that was recently conducted by Ostashay and Associates Consulting, a historic preservation firm.

Several public workshops have been held over the past three years to discuss the current field survey and other historic preservation topics as they relate to the Historic Preservation Ordinance.

The workshop on June 15 will be held to review a revised draft of the Historic Preservation Ordinance with the Heritage Committee and the public. The draft ordinance is available on the city’s website at lagunabeachcity.net.

Laguna Beach Republicans Announce June Meeting

The Laguna Beach Republicans will conduct their June meeting on Wednesday, June 15, at Mozambique, 1740 S. Coast Hwy. Happy hour at 5 p.m., meeting at 6 p.m.

Emil Monda, president of Laguna Beach Republicans, invites all Republicans, Independents and Libertarians to attend this event.

“We hope all registered voters did their civic duty and voted last Tuesday and we ask those interested in driving our platform forward in November to be at Mozambique on June 15,” said Monda.

Topics covered at the meeting will include the Primary election results, plans to oppose the current short term rental ban, and the possible medical marijuana dispensaries in Laguna Beach.

Learn to Compost, Win A Bin

The city’s solid waste hauler, Waste Management, will offer the third of four free composting classes from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 at Lang Park, 21540 Wesley Drive. Compost bins and worm bins will be available for purchase during the class at a discounted price.
