USO Tours OC Baron’s Ball

The Santa Ana Country Club underwent a transformation into the USO for the annual OC Baron’s Ball, raising $125,000 to defeat cancer.

Laguna Beach residents were among the 150 guests, including some who got into the Hollywood canteen act with vintage military apparel. Even President Roosevelt (aka Mike Moore) made an appearance.

Ed Arnold emceed the event and ran the live auction. Tashi Zouras donated $5,000 toward additional cancer research, and Robert and Ester Miller secured the quilt depicting 63 photos of children who attended the Courageous Kids Celebration, while Doug and Sandi Jackson walked away with a spa package from Montage Laguna Beach.

“More than 11,630 of our family members and neighbors in Orange County will be diagnosed with cancer this year,” said Kay Burra, OC Baron’s League Vice President. Event proceeds fund patient services and educational programs for people in Orange County, supports advocacy efforts and cancer research.

Last year, the American Cancer Society helped more than 3,281 local cancer patients with services and resources.

 

Formerly called the Cattle Baron’s League of Orange County, the organization has raised $5 million in the fight against cancer since 1999.
