Varsity Squads Sidelined at Cross Country Race

None of the Breakers top runners competed in the Orange Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 17 at Irvine Regional Park.

In the boys’ small school freshman race, Jaden Orr finished 48th out of 229 runners with a time of 19:09. Other sub-20-minute runners with their place and time were Alex Bonnin (71, 19:51) and Oliver Russell (76, 19:57)

In the girls’ small school frosh/soph race, sophomores Callista Helms and Ana Kelly posted identical times of 22:11 to finish 53rd and 54th out of 288 runners, with. Freshman Chloe Levin ran a 22:33 to finish 74th.

William Kramer finished 64th out of 213 runners in the boys’ sophomore race. Junior Mason Pitz was Laguna’s only varsity entry out of 154 runners. He finished 50th in a time of 17:15.

Out of 154 runners in the girls’ JV race, seniors Rachel Hunter and Paige Vitolo finished 40th and 45th respectively with times of 22:40 and 23:05. Junior Allison Konno was the only Laguna competitor in the girls’ varsity race. She finished 50th out of 145 runners in a time of 20:12.

The Breakers head to Walnut for the Mt. SAC Invitational on Friday, Oct. 24.
