Patchell’s 18s Capture JO Gold
Shawn Patchell, a Laguna resident and former head coach at Laguna Beach High School, saw his 18s squad (T-Street) defeat Cleveland 18-Black 16-25, 25-10, 15-10 for the open division title at the annual Junior Nationals held in New Orleans in early July. The squad included recent Laguna grads Francie Holte and Sabrina Stillwell.
The Boys Junior Nationals were held in Columbus, Ohio, over July 4, and the Breaker’s Cole Paxson was named all-tournament as a libero for the 16-open division. He was a member of Balboa Bay’s team that finished second to Spectrum, a squad that featured many of the Oak Park players that defeated Laguna this past spring in the section semifinals.
