Help Needed to Preserve Wildlands

The public is invited to join Laguna Canyon Foundation’s volunteer orientation for the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park and Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Nix Nature Center.

As a park volunteer, you can assist with protecting, preserving, enhancing and promoting the natural beauty of nearly 10,000 acres of wilderness. Volunteer opportunities range from leading nature walks to greeting and assisting park visitors at trailheads, staffing the interpretive nature center, helping in the maintenance of the trails, restoring native habitat, or joining the bike patrol.

The possibilities are endless as volunteers continue to develop programs that enhance the outdoor experience for park visitors.

The Laguna Canyon Foundation is specifically looking for those who live close to neighborhood park entrances (Dartmoor, Alta Laguna, Arch Beach Heights, Ridge Park, Canyon View, Aliso and Wood Canyon Ranger Station, and Aliso Peak) to join our Neighborhood Wilderness Guardian program. For more information on volunteering in the parks please visit www.lagunacanyon.org.

To reserve a space for this upcoming orientation please contact Gigi Logan, Public Program and Volunteer Manager at [email protected].
