Woman Robbed by Knife-wielding Thief

A thief pushed a woman to the ground and stole her purse while brandishing a knife she walked home alone on Coast Highway about 9:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, police said.

Investigators are reviewing video from several locations, Sgt. Tim Kleiser said. The attack took place near Ruby and Upland streets, he said.

Grand theft. 400 block of Cliff Dr. 12:49 p.m. A resident reported the theft of a Montblanc men’s watch valued at $7,660.

Fraud report. 22100 block of Paseo Del Sur. 2:47 p.m. A resident received no notices from three different credit card companies that someone had opened accounts in his name.

Traffic collision. 16-00053. Glenneyre St. 7 p.m. A skateboarder received lacerations to his hip and was taken to the hospital after colliding with a vehicle heading north on Glenneyre Street.

Tuesday, Jan. 5

Traffic stop. Coast Hwy. 11 a.m. Laura Sanders, 42, of Lake Elsinore, was held for a felony parole violation.

Grand theft. 400 block of Mountain Rd. 7:13 a.m. Sunglasses, golf clubs, a camera, bags and cash totaling $4,000 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Wednesday, Jan. 6

Fraud. 2600 block of Queda Way. 3 p.m. Someone duplicated her bank card and made fraudulent purchases.

Thursday, Jan. 7

Fraud. 1000 block of Skyline Dr. 11 a.m. Someone opened a Verizon account in the resident’s name.

Citizen contact. 1300 block of Coral Dr. 12:39 p.m. A resident shipping a motorhome to Europe alleges a shipper misappropriated $14,000 in shipping fees.

Drunk driving. Laguna Canyon Rd. A 41-year-old Laguna Niguel man was cited for reckless driving.

Automated license plate reader. 16-00083. Ledroit St. 6:28 p.m. Curtis Scott Thornton, 48, of Upland, who fled on foot after abandoning a stolen car, was arrested for suspicion of auto theft. A ’96 Ford Astrovan was reported stolen three days earlier.

Traffic collision. Thalia St. 7:39 p.m. Police collected conflicting reports on what occurred. The pedestrian involved was not injured, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Disturbance. 200 block of Lower Cliff Dr. 11:34 p.m. Darlene Diane Dearen, 38, of Newport Beach, was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence after allegedly biting the face of a boyfriend.

Friday, Jan. 8

Traffic stop. Pearl St. Lissa Marie Pfeifer, 44, of Dana Point, was arrested for suspicion of DUI and held for $10,000 due to a prior offense.

Vandalism. 600 block of Park Ave. 2:25 a.m. Graffiti was discovered on four different buildings.

Municipal violation. 200 block of Park Ave. 7:28 p.m. Homeless Gordon Weider, 48, drinking vodka in public, was arrested for eight outstanding warrants.

Traffic stop. Montage resort. 10 p.m. A 55-year-old San Clemente woman was cited for DUI.

Automated license plate reader. 16-00094. Laguna Canyon Rd. 11:45 p.m. Paul Kim, 24, of Winnetka, was arrested for suspicion of stealing a red Mitsubishi Montero the day before.

Saturday, Jan. 9

Occupied vehicle. 100 block of Brooks St. 12:28 a.m. A 46-year-old Laguna Niguel man was cited for DUI.

Traffic stop. 400 block of Glenneyre St. 2 a.m. A 47-year-old Laguna Beach man was cited for DUI.

Public intoxication. 200 block of Park Ave. 6:52 p.m. Gualterio Montesdeoca, 44, who is homeless, was arrested for being drunk in public and 24 outstanding warrants.

Pedestrian stop.. 100 block of Mountain Rd. 11:54 p.m. Domink Edouarddavide Gionet, 26, of Lake forest, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Sunday, Jan. 10

Traffic stop. 30600 block of Coast hwy. 12:52 a.m. A 45-year-old Laguna Niguel driver was arrested for DUI.

DUI. 500 block of S. Coast Hwy. 1:31 a.m. A 26-year-old Rancho Cucamonga woman was cited for DUI and a vehicle code violation.

Pedestrian stop. West St. 11 a.m. William Busha, 35, of Colorado, was cited for warrants.

Drunk driving. 1700 block of S. Coast hwy. 9:34 p.m. After a dark gray Porsche hit a parked car, the 62-year-old motorist from Laguna Niguel was arrested for DUI.

Monday, Jan. 11

Vandalism. 300 block of Legion St. 6:24 a.m. Two machines in a Laundromat were damaged overnight.
