Laguna Outreach for Community Arts is presenting a mixed-media workshop at Laguna Nursery, 1370 S. Coast Highway, Thursday, Dec. 11, from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Beginners and all levels are invited. Working on a canvas support, participants will combine collage with acrylic painting to celebrate the beauty of orchids, as taught by Hedy Buzan. Everyone will take home finished art.
Cost for a single class is $30, or $125 for a five-pack of garden-themed classes, with choices offered through May. All supplies and free parking are included. Register in advance by calling 949 363-4700. Laguna Nursery is at at Mountain St.
Dream Unfolds at Sandstone Gallery
Cosmic Dream, the expressive acrylic paintings on linen by Sunny Kim, and Dreamscapes, oil paintings on canvas by Ann Kim, will be featured through December in the Sandstone Gallery, 384-A N Coast Highway.
Youth Experiment With Art
Kids ages 5 to 12 will can take advantage of an Experimental Art class in the morning and a Knit, Stitch, Stick, and Sew class Sunday, Dec. 7, at Art Lab Squared.
The 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. workshop at the Anneliese school in Laguna Canyon costs $35. Register at www.seeded.org.
Plein Air Artists Paint Up a Storm in Laguna
Over 1,000 people attended the 16th annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational and purchased $250,000 worth of works created during a week in October painting throughout Laguna Beach.
Jim McVicker, of Loleta, Calif., won best in show and the top $10,000 prize for his “Heisler Park Sunlight.”
Thirty-five plein air artists competed for $20,000 in awards.
Proceeds will fund the association, which promotes the landscape painting heritage of Laguna Beach.
