Two suspects arrested in the downtown area last Saturday had fled this trapped vehicle.

Two people who abandoned a stolen vehicle that became jammed in a pedestrian stairwell while trying to evade pursuing police were taken into custody early last Saturday in downtown Laguna Beach.

The driver and passenger escaped through the sunroof of the VW trapped in the library stairwell and fled on foot, but were caught nearby in the downtown area about 2 a.m., Sgt Louise Callus said.

Karly Bosson, 33, of Anaheim, and Samuel Erich, 29, of Brea, were held for two felony and two misdemeanor charges as well as outstanding arrest warrants, Callus said.

The pair fled into a residential area after an officer attempted to pull over their vehicle for speeding and driving erratically on South Coast Highway, she said.

Inside the Jetta, reported stolen in Anaheim, were drugs and a cash drawer taken from a Dana Point pet store which had been burglarized an hour before, Callus said.
