Dance instructor Eugene Hedlund will hold weekly 5 Rhythms dance classes from  7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Neighborhood Congregational Church’s Bridge Hall, 340 St. Ann’s Drive, beginning on Jan. 13. No background in dance or movement is required to dance the five rhythms, and the practice is available to anyone, regardless of age, size or physical ability. Classes are offered at $15, with limited concessions available. Class and workshop information is available at www.sheddingskins.com.

The 5 Rhythms is described as a movement meditation practice created at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, during the 1960s. Hedlund discovered the 5 Rhythms in early 2003 while in Europe.  When he couldn’t find any classes convenient to his home, he felt compelled to become a teacher.
