Over 200 blind and visually impaired adults, including veterans and their escorts, will cast off from Newport Harbor on Saturday, Oct. 15, during the 27th annual Sail for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

The Women’s Sailing Association-Orange County sponsors the event with American Legion Post 291.

Participants will take the helm and steer the boat under supervision, and to try their hand at handling lines aboard the boat.

Several hundred volunteers take part, including skippers with their boats, yacht club members, Seal Beach Lions Club, Navy Sea Cadets, and Harbor Patrol Explorer Scouts, along with WSA-OC members and American Legion volunteers.
