Gallery Q Toasts Winning Senior Artists

Winning artist Corinne Matser, left, receives congratulations from Mayor Jane Egly, center, with Gallery Q arts manager Carole Zavala.

Based on the preferences of visitors to the Susi Q Center’s senior artists exhibition, Mayor Jane Egly awarded purple ribbons last week to artists in three categories.

Marianne van der Veer’s work, “Madonna” was selected as “most likely to be in a museum,” Corinne Matser’s “U Go Girl,” was chosen as the “Most Off the Wall/On the Wall” piece, and Ellen Rose’s “My Mother’s Shawl” was voted the piece that they would most like to own.

Over 120 votes were cast.

Egly joined artists and visitors and board members of the Festival of Arts, who recently awarded the Susi Q $2,000 for its efforts to showcase artists of all ages.
