Art Club Opens with Art Educator

Jonathan Burke, president of Laguna College of Art and Design, will share insights on composition, structure, and presentation in the opening lecture of the LOCA Arts Education’ Art Club.

The 4 p.m. talk Thursday, Jan. 18, takes place at the LCAD Gallery, 374 Ocean Ave. Gatherings take place on the third Thursdays of each month.

Painters Betty Haight, Kathy Jones, and Stephanie Cunningham are featured Feb. 15. They will discuss the benefits of working collaboratively.

The talks are free to LOCA members and $20 for guests. Advance registration is requested at 949 363-4700.

Help Create Art

Laguna Art Museum is kicking off the year with a centennial bash and has commissioned Megan Geckler to install a site-specific piece that will transform the museum’s lobby into a colorful wonderland.

The museum is looking for art students and community members to work alongside Geckler from Tuesday, Jan 16, through Thursday, Jan. 25, in two shifts, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 7 p.m. Contact Kristen Anthony to sign up: [email protected]
