Buy Art-To-Go, Win Hotel Prizes

The Artists Fund at Festival of Arts will hold two prize drawings Saturday, Aug. 31 from among those who purchase from the Art-To-Go collection, available daily on the Festival grounds. Prizes include stays at The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel or The Tides Inn in Laguna Beach.

Art-To-Go is a sale of originals, donated by Festival exhibitors, to benefit disaster relief for artists. The collection may be viewed on Facebook at The Artists Fund at Festival of Arts.

Each purchase qualifies for entry in the hotel prize giveaway. Winner need not be present.

Tony Dow Unveils His Latest Sculpture

Sculptor Tony Dow will speak at a reception at DeBilzan Gallery on Saturday, Aug. 31, regarding his current artistic endeavor, sculpture and assemblages on canvas.

The reception will be held from 7 through 10 p.m. with Dow speaking at 7:30 p.m.  Dow will unveil his latest sculpture series titled “Skyline.”

Also included in the show at 224 Forest Ave. will be Dow’s assemblages on canvas and a large collection of his figurative bronze and burlwood sculpture. These sculptures are humanlike figures devoid of great detail, leaving much interpretation to the viewer.

Laguna Beach fine artist Vanessa Françoise Rothe’s latest exhibition of 30 works blends Moroccan and French themes.

The exhibition begins with a Sept. 14 reception from 6 through 9 p.m. at Costa Mesa’s Randy Higbee Gallery, 102 Kalmus. The reception promises a night of colors, spices, French and Moroccan music, mint tea, hors d’oeuvres, fromage, wine, fine art and antiques.

 

 

 

 

Art Launch Showing at the new Shed

The Shed fine art gallery in Dana Point hosts a benefit party Thursday, Aug. 29, from 5-7 p.m.

Guests will be entertained with live music by the Rick Lobos duo, Italian wine tasting by ZGR Imports and appetizers by Luciana’s Ristorante.

The Shed’s party benefits Laguna Beach’s Friendship Shelter, which will receive a percentage of sales of work by gallery hosts, expressionist painters and sculptors.

Sneak a Peak at Runway Couture

The Festival of Arts’ Art Talk series wraps up on Thursday, Aug. 29 with artist W. Bradley Elsberry, a winner in the Festival’s now annual fashion show of unusual materials.

At Elsberry’s noon talk, he will explain how he develops an idea and turns it into a winning design. This year’s show is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 31 on the Festival grounds.
