Exhibit Focuses on Kids’ Images

The Boys and Girls Club is holding their sixth annual National Image Makers Photography Exhibit on Wednesday, March 20 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the club, 1085 Laguna Canyon Rd. The exhibit will feature works by over 120 members with a display of over 800 photographs of the world surrounding them.

First place pieces will be a part of regional exhibit in the Young Artists Society Gallery at the Laguna Art Museum from April 21 to May 19.

Laguna Outreach for Community Arts is offering two separate upcoming weekend painting classes.

A beginner level botanical art class is offered at Laguna Nursery, 1370 S. Coast Highway, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday March 16. Learn about Pansies and Poppies, as presented by horticulturalist, Ruben Flores, then instructor Lydia Delgado will teach easy color bleeds and layering with watercolors. Students 16 and older will take home a finished piece of art.

From 10-11:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, participants will enjoy a tour of Treasure Island Beach and viewing of the live tidepool creatures, crabs and sea stars. Following the tour, instructor September McGee will teach fun, easy watercolor mixing techniques. Beginners are invited.

Costs range from $30 to $35; $20 for children ages 5 and up at the beach. Gear is provided.

Magic of Spring Brightens Crystal Cove

Crystal Cove Alliance is hosting a spring art program at Crystal Cove State Park on Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will host local artists who will display their work and sales will benefit the historical heritage of Crystal Cove. Artists include Michael Alten, Kirsten Anderson, Jacobus Baas, Gavin Brooks and John Budicin.
