Laguna Outreach for Community Arts invites the public to a discussion with acclaimed local painter Scott Moore, known for art works that read like glorious vintage postcards. He speaks to the Art Club on Thursday May 29, 4-6 p.m., meeting at DM Studio, 1294 S. Coast Highway, suite D, at Cress Street.

Moore will present examples of his work, and talk about his evolution from traditional still-lifes to his signature surrealist style. His paintings exhibit a combination of hyper-realistic landscapes or urban scenes, integrated with figures and everyday objects in exaggerated sizes. Objects may include kitchen appliances, groceries, apparel or vintage toys, giving the works a sentimental edge.

The salon-style presentation will include refreshments. Admission is $20 at the door, or free to LOCA members.

The art-loving public is invited to the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association’s Canvas for a Cause, a silent auction of framed works by 42 artists on Sunday, June 8, at the Woman’s Club.

All proceeds will support LPAPA’s programs, providing opportunities for its 300 members.

Bids start at $350 at 5:30 p.m. A wine and cheese reception precedes the bidding at 286 St. Ann’s Dr.
