Finding Inspiration in the Mix of Art and Music
Art Talks kick off at noon Thursday, July 11 with “Noteworthy,” a discussion on art and music led by Scott Moore with exhibitors Tom Swimm, Breck Rothage, and Marlo Bartels on the Festival of Arts’ grounds. They’ll discuss not only the effect music has on their creative process, but also their own experience as musicians.

Sunset Reception Features Art Appreciation Talk
Art lovers will gather on Friday, July 12, for A Breath of Fresh Air, a sunset reception in the Crystal Cove State Park historic district where the works of nearly 30 plein air artists will be displayed and sold to benefit Crystal Cove Alliance, which supports restoration and conservation of the park. The art show opens to the public Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Jean Stern, executive director of the Irvine Museum, will provide the talking points at 5 p.m., followed by an hors d’ oeuvres reception, art preview and sale, and classical guitar performance by Payam Larijani.
The cost is $70 for members; and $80 for non-members and includes parking. Buyers can apply the fee toward their purchase.

Public Reception for CAP Show
The public is invited to join artists at an 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. reception Saturday, July 13, for “All Media 2013,” a second-floor Community Art Project exhibition in Wells Fargo Bank, 260 Ocean Ave.
The show curated by Pat Sparkuhl is of work by artists ranging in styles including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, and mixed media.

Blake Earns County Kudos
Arts Orange County’s annual awards were announced and include contemporary art champion and Laguna Beach gallery owner Peter Blake and Laguna College of Art and Design.
The awards take place Sept. 24 in Costa Mesa’s Samueli Theatre.
Call for Artists to Tidal Showing

The show is open to all ages and mediums; art work will be accepted on Wednesday and Thursday, July 17 and 18, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
