LCAD Exhibit at City Hall Launches Art Walk Anniversary

 

The 14th anniversary celebration of First Thursdays Art Walk on Feb. 2 kicks off with a pre-event at 5 p.m. at Laguna Beach City Hall, featuring “Visual Tales from Eire and England,” an exhibition of work by Laguna College of Art and Design students, inspired by their 2011 summer study abroad program that toured Ireland and England.

The evening continues from 6 to 9 p.m. with a wide array of gallery openings around the town, artist demonstrations and receptions. Pick up a brochure with a map and schedule of events at any gallery or on the trolley. An exhibition of “Artful Violins” created in support of the 10th annual Laguna Beach Music Festival will be on display at JoAnne Artman Gallery and S Cube Gallery.

 

 

Artist Demo and Live Music at Signature Gallery

 

Artist Jenny Simon, who paints vibrant abstracts in oil using thick, bold layers will demonstrate her style from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Signature Gallery, 220 Forest Ave. Cocktails will be served as guests enjoy live music by Half Blonde and The Hennings. Conference for the Solution of Problems, ceramic and resin sculptures by Paco Esnayra

S Cube Hosts U.S. Debut of Mexican Sculptor

 

S Cube Gallery, 346 N. Coast Highway, unveils the works of Mexican sculptor Paco Esnayra, with the Feb. 2 debut of “Introspection,” referring to the purposeful conscious observation of inner thoughts, emotions, and desires. The artist’s approach to classical form is a visual synthesis of contemporary psychology and the expression of the human condition.

Esnayra earned a degree in sculpture from the National School of Fine Art in Mexico City and became a protégé of master sculptor Javier Marin. S Cube is the first gallery to show his work in the United States. The exhibit continues through March 18.

 

 

Anne Moore’s Monotypes Featured at Sandstone Gallery

 

Sandstone Gallery features new exhibits “Beneath the Surface,” monotypes by Anne Moore, and “It Figures,” works on paper by Marge Chapman, Feb. 1-27, with an opening reception for the artists from 6 to 9 p.m. during First Thursdays Art Walk on Feb. 2 at 384-A N. Coast Highway. Also exhibiting are contemporary artists KL Heagen, Howard Hitchcock, Sunny Kim, Mada Leach, Marjorie Sanders and Lynn Welker.
