Getting in Touch With Noguchi’s Influences

Noguchi sculptures partly encircle participants in the museum’s collage workshop.

Laguna Art Museum hosted a children’s art workshop and book-signing with “The East-West House: Noguchi’s Childhood in Japan” author Christy Hale in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition about him through Oct. 2

Children and their families enjoyed a reading from Hale’s book, which tells the story of the boy who grew up to be the multi-faceted artist who created a vast array of innovative sculptures, stage sets, furniture, and public spaces.

The author also led participants in a landscape collage art workshop complete with texture rubbing and torn edges of recycled paper.
