Local Little League baseball gained their second all-time major league player this past month as Michael Brady made a brief appearance with the Oakland Athletics after getting called up by the A’s from the Nashville Sounds (Pacific Coast League). He was called up on June 17 and made his debut on June 20, pitching one inning of relief against Houston. He returned to Nashville after one month, but is still listed on the inactive roster for Oakland.

Brady played in college at UC Berkeley and started his minor league career in 2010 in the Florida organization after getting drafted in the 24th round by the Marlins. 2017 is his first season with the A’s organization.

Chris Paul, another former Cal player, is coming off the disabled list and should be back in action for the Fort Myers Miracles, an A-level team in the Florida State League.

Going on the disabled list is Preston Grand Pre with a common hamate bone injury. Grand Pre will probably miss the end of the minor league season, which concludes in early September. Follow minor league baseball at www.milb.com
