In the Ryan Lemmon Invitational at Windrow Park in Irvine, the Breakers dropped a tough 3-1 contest to Long Beach Poly on Monday, March 28, during Laguna’s spring break week. Blake Burzell took the loss against the Division 1 Jackrabbits (9-6).

Breakers bounced back on Tuesday, March 29, as Ashton Goddard went the distance throwing a three-hitter as Laguna defeated Woodbridge 5-0.

The final tournament game was played on Wednesday, March 30, and the squad will be off until April 12 when they will host Godinez as the league season will resume.

Last week, Laguna went 3-1 beating Costa Mesa 10-4 on Tuesday, March 22, but dropped a non-league contest 4-1 on Wednesday, March 23, at Sage Hill. Breakers generated only five hits in the game scoring their lone run in the top of the seventh. On Friday, March 25, Breakers scored seven runs in the first inning en route to a 22-0 victory over Saddleback on the Roadrunner field.

The contest ranks sixth all-time for margin of victory, third for team at-bats. The win marked the 52nd consecutive league win for the Breakers.

On Saturday, March 26, Laguna defeated Irvine 4-0 in the opening tournament contest in Irvine. John Ogden went the distance for the shutout victory allowing only three hits. Alex Bakers, Jeff Bruyntjens and Zak Kovacic each had two hits for Laguna.
