Boys Basketball (12-5, 1-0)

Breakers made it look easy running past Godinez 67-48 last Friday, Jan. 8, at Godinez in Santa Ana as a strong 20-10 third quarter ended any hope of the host Grizzlies (9-9) staying with Laguna. Blake Burzell scored 20 with a hot fourth quarter that included three straight three-point shots while Darin Richardson added 17 for the game, Isaac Wullf 13, and Nick Rahder 8. Spencer Wong added 3 points. Off the bench Ryan Meisberger, Karam Jones, and Charlie Rounaghi each added two points.


Girls Basketball (10-6, 1-0)

Breakers opened league play with a decisive 51-41 victory over Godinez at the Grizzly gym. Breakers led 33-15 at the intermission coasting to the win. Jackie Cenan hit for 24 points including going 12 for 14 from the free-throw line. Alexandra Lewis added 14, Nicole Davidson 9 and Rachel Kenney 4 points.

This past week Laguna traveled to Costa Mesa (3-13) on January 12 before hosting Saddleback (3-12) on Thursday, Jan. 14 in Dugger Gym.
