Biker, 40, Wins Competition

Scenes of Brian Lopes in action.

Local mountain bike champion Brian Lopes won the inaugural UCI MTB World Cup XC Sprint Eliminator held in Houffalize, Belgium, on April 13.

Lopes, 40, said the results show age is nothing but a number. He was pleased by his performance.

Confident after a first place qualifying run, Lopes went on to show his fitness and experience by leading the start at every heat.  The steep climbs and tight single track provided an opportunity for Lopes to take the lead by maximizing on his starts and defending it on the first climb.
