To showcase Laguna’s Marine Protected Areas, the Laguna Bluebelt Coalition invites photographers to submit to its fifth annual photo contest.

Winning photographers will be invited to exhibit at Laguna’s Gallery Q and honored at an artist reception.

Photos taken within Laguna’s Marine Protected Areas between Jan. 16 and Feb. 6 can be submitted online at www.contest.lagunabluebelt.org by Feb. 6. Winners will be chosen in amateur and professional categories. Subjects may include people enjoying the beach, ocean or tide pools, birds or marine life under or over the water.

Local photographers Mark Chamberlain, Patsee Ober, Mitch Ridder and underwater photographer Beverly Factor will serve as judges.

Prizes include a helicopter ride, dining at Surf & Sand Resort and Skyloft restaurant, SUP lessons, a dive boat trip and gift cards from Massage Envy and La Sirena Grill.

Correction:

An announcement in the Jan. 8 edition about a photo contest provided mistaken information. Photos taken since last Jan. 15 through Feb. 6 are eligible. Entries can be uploaded to www.contest.lagunabluebelt.org until the contest closes Feb. 6.
