Laguna played three matches last week starting with a 10-8 win over Mission Viejo on Tuesday, March 6, on the local courts. Laguna’s top singles players won their matches easily as Mason Libby took both of his 6-2, 6-0 and Andrew Johnson won 6-0, 6-1, 6-1. The following day, Laguna took down Mater Dei 10-8 at Los Caballeros in Fountain Valley. Mason won two of three singles matches but the key was in doubles as Blake Hawkins and Matt Duong swept their three matches 6-2, 7-6, 6-3. On Thursday, March 8, at Trabuco Hills, the host Mustangs defeated Laguna 11-7. Breakers were successful only in doubles. Weather permitting, Laguna had two matches this past week and will start the eight-match league season on March 21 at Saddleback.
