The girls track and field squad took first in the 18thannual Prefontaine Rotary Invitational held in Coos Bay, Ore., last Saturday, April 14, while Laguna’s boys squad finished seventh out of the 25 teams competing.
Winners for Laguna were Majia Shaw in the 200-meter dash (26.44) and in the 400-meters (58.69). The 4 x 100 relay of Shanai Auguis, Ella Dartez, Majia Shaw, and Karmen Schmidt also won with a 50.72 mark. On the boys side, the lone winner was Mateo Bianchi with a 9:25.36 in the 3000 meter run.
League finals are in two weeks, Thursday, May 3, on the Hulst Oval at Guyer Field.
