Breakers open league play with a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday, Oct. 7, as host to Godinez (1-4) at Guyer Field. Their record belies a strong team expected to win the league. Last week they dropped a 3-0 game to Orange (5-0), a team that easily handled Laguna a few weeks back. Laguna must finish first or second to be guaranteed a post-season playoff spot under the new playoff format. All league teams struggled to a degree in their non-conference portion of their schedule. As of now, it looks like 1 – Godinez, 2 – Calvary, 3 – Estancia or Saddleback, 5 – Laguna, 6 – Costa Mesa. Breakers travel to Costa Mesa (0-5) next week then will host Saddleback (2-3) for 61st Homecoming game on Oct. 21.
